Movement Towards reform
In the early 1900s, a national census confirmed that about 2 million children were employed in mines, factories, fields, mills, stores, and other working places. It was a start that got the people to begin a movement to end child labor in the US. Children were preferred work forces since they were cheaper and less likely to protest. Social reformers started to take notice of the problems with child labor.
